New Here? WELCOME!

COME AS YOU ARE

We welcome all who are seeking God's love and grace. Welcoming all because God welcomes us, regardless of race or culture, sexual orientation, gender identity, or relationship status. Visiting a new church can be intimidating. To help ease your concerns, we would like to share a little about what to expect as a guest.

To start, you will find plenty of parking upon your arrival. On Sunday morning, you will be greeted in the Narthex gathering area. Please introduce yourself as a first time guest so that they can show you where to go. Grab a cup of coffee and a treat, a bulletin from an usher, find a seat in the Sanctuary, or join us in the Fellowship Hall for Sunday Adult Bible Study at 9:30 a.m.

Where do I park and what entrance should I use?
We have a large parking lot in front of and on both sides of the building and you are welcome to park anywhere that is convenient for your needs. We have several spaces designated for handicapped parking.

There are three points of entry into the church. The main entrance for Sunday Service is through the double doors (Sanctuary entrance) leading to the Narthex, Sanctuary, Fireside Room, Choir Room and Nursery. The second entry point (Office entrance) is in the center of the building and leads to the Office, Fellowship Hall, Family Life Center (FLC) and Gathering House. The third entrance is off the Family Life Center and is the entrance to be used for Sunday School, Messiah Kid Wednesday (MKW) and High School classes.

When can I visit?

Our office is open Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m., and Saturdays by appointment. Please call 815-741-4488 to make an appointment.

Sunday morning Services are 8:00, 9:30 and 11:00 a.m.

What should I wear?

Wear the clothing that makes you comfortable. Your presence is more important to us than your outfit.

What can I expect during a service?

We have three different worship services on Sunday.

  • 8:00 a.m. is our traditional service with Holy Communion served every week.

  • 9:30 a.m. is mostly traditional with music from our Sanctuary Choir, and our Children's Choir once a month. Holy Communion served on the 1st and 3rd Sundays. We have children's Sunday School classes as well as 2-3 adult classes at this time, including one specifically for those between 19-30 called Mosaic. We have a time for prayers and praises, offerings, and then the message and close our service with a hymn and a benediction.

  • 11:00 a.m. is led by our Praise and Worship Team and our Youth Leadership. Holy Communion served on the 1st and 3rd Sundays.

What about my kids?

Children are more than welcome at Messiah! We have Sunday School for ages three - 12th grade during our 9:30 a.m. service, as well as programs throughout the week. We also provide a supervised nursery during all three Sunday services. Click here for more information about our Children Ministries and here for our Youth Ministries. Children of any age are welcomed and encouraged to worship with their families at any of our services.
